We recommend that you install Snapmaker Luban to generate G-codes for 3D printing, as it is a tailor-made software for Snapmaker products.
If you have already installed Luban, make sure to update it to at least v4.5.0.
Due to possible differences between the factory version and the latest version, we strongly recommend updating the firmware of J1/J1s before the first-time use and keeping the firmware up to date during subsequent use to obtain the best user experience.
You can connect J1/J1s to Luban through either a serial port or Wi-Fi and perform a variety of operations, including file transfer, pause, resume, and stop.
In order to help you quickly become familiar with the workflow for using J1/J1s with Luban and completing your first 3D printing creation, this section will guide you through Luban's Beginner's Guide. You will have fun with the provided 3D printing material and the example project tailored for your first creative experience.
Before generating the G-code file, you need to prepare the 3D model file for printing.
To slice a model and generate a G-code file in Luban, follow the steps below:
Before slicing, always check if you've selected the correct machine model via Preferences > Machine Settings.
Make sure the model file is in STL or OBJ fromat.
You can start printing on Luban via Wi-Fi or via USB cable.
When printing thermal materials (especially PLA), to avoid clogging the nozzle when printing the first layer, please remove the top plate and keep the front doors open during printing. Alternatively, you can apply 3D printing glue on the glass side of the print platform and print without heating the heated bed.
To modify the heat bed temperature settings, please click Materials > Heating & Cooling > Build Plate Temperature on top toolbar.
Once printing starts, keep a close eye on the first layer of the model so that problems can be detected in time to avoid wasting filaments. If the first layer does not adhere to the glass platform, stop printing and refer to - First Layer Does Not Stick.
If the Wi-Fi network becomes unstable or disconnected during printing, the ongoing job will not be affected. you can still control the printing and adjust the parameters on the Touchscreen.

If the USB cable is unplugged during printing, the ongoing job will be stopped immediately and cannot be resumed by replugging. Also, you cannot control the printing process or adjust parameters on the Touchscreen, of which the function is sustituted by Luban in this case.
You can transfer files to the machine via Wi-Fi or USB flash drive, then start printing job on the Touchscreen.

After the printing is complete, remove the print from the PEI glass plate.
For models that include a support structure, it is necessary to remove the support structure from the print after it is removed.
To ensure the 3D printing effects of Snapmaker J1/J1s, before each calibration and each printing job, please- clean the nozzle.
