Before the assembly and operation of the 2W Laser Module, please read the following content carefully.
Before any assembly and installation, make sure the machine has been powered off.
Note: In the package, there are M4 × 8 screws, which are not used in this assembly process. You can keep them for future use.
If you need to adjust the tightness of the plate, please refer to - Install the quick swap toolhead plate (adjustable version).
Make sure to fully slide the toolhead into the bracket.
Ensure that the connector is in the correct direction.
We recommend that you use Snapmaker Luban to generate G-codes for laser engraving and cutting, as it is a tailor-made software for Snapmaker products.
If you have already installed Luban, make sure to update it to at least v4.13.0, and select 2W Laser Module in Settings > Machine Settings > Toolhead.
Snapmaker Artisan also supports LightBurn. For detailed tutorials, refer to Using Ray / Artisan / 2.0 with LightBurn.
Please update the firmware of Artisan to V2.7.3 or above.
The initial laser safety password is the verification code of the machine, which you can find at the bottom of the Integrated Controller.
To recalibrate the platform height, click Calibrate > Platform Height Calibration > Start to calibrate the platform height.
You can connect Artisan to Luban via a serial port or Wi-Fi and perform a series of operations such as task start, pause, resume, and stop.
File transfer to the machine is only supported via Wi-Fi.
When a task is started on Luban, it will be immediately stopped due to a serial-port disconnection. However, it will remain unaffected in the event of an unstable or disconnected Wi-Fi network.
This section will guide you to get familiar with the workflow of using the 2W Laser Module with Luban and complete your first laser creation. You will have fun with the provided laser material and the example project tailored for your first creative experience.
Take the round Metal Tag out of the material package and secure it to the laser engraving and cutting platform with masking tape.
You can also place the Metal Tag on the laser engraving and cutting platform without fixing it. However, if the material is light or easily deformed, please refer to the following instructions to fix the material on the laser engraving and cutting platform.
Make sure that you have selected 2W Laser Module in Settings > Machine Settings > Toolhead.
On Luban homepage, click Laser > 3-axis to enter the Laser G-code Generator.
Complete the Job Setup and click Confirm.
On top hidden bar, click File > Case Library > Metal Tag to import the example case.
You can also import your own files and configure the parameters.
After the G-code file is generated, click Export > Load G-code to Workspace at the bottom-right corner. The interface will automatically redirect to Workspace.
In the G-code Files panel, click Send to Device. The G-code file of the example project will be transferred to Artisan.
On the Home screen of the Touchscreen, tap Start to open the file list and select the transferred G-code file, then tap Next to enter the laser job preparation.
Adjusting the laser height to focus the laser can ensure optimal engraving and cutting outcomes.
The work origin determined in this process must correspond to the origin position in the Luban job setup. If and only if the two positions are consistent, the machine will process in the expected area.
You can change the origin in Luban's Job Setup.
Click Run Boundary to check if the work origin are correct.
If not, please repeat the above steps.
If the laser module hits any part of the machine, turn off the machine immediately!
Keep the machine attended throughout the task!
Before starting work, be sure to wear laser safety googles.
