¶ Applicable Scenarios
- Dust and filament debris have accumulated inside the extruder.
- The extruder gears are rusted / rust marks appear on the surface of printed models.
¶ Possible Causes
- Dust and debris accumulation: an expected result of long-term use.
- Extruder gear rust: as the gears mesh and rotate, the outer plating wears away due to a lack of lubrication, exposing the underlying material and allowing it to rust.
¶ Procedure
(1) Refer to Toolhead Disassembly and Reassembly to disassemble the extruder.
The hot end and the hot end cooling fan do not need to be removed.
(2) Use tools such as an air blower or a soft brush to clean dust and debris off the extruder components.
(3) Apply grease to the helical teeth of the extruder gears, rotating the gears as you brush the grease on.
Avoid letting grease overflow into the filament guide channel, as this will affect filament extrusion.
(4) Refer to Toolhead Disassembly and Reassembly again to reassemble the extruder and toolhead.
