¶ 📝 Issue Description
When the build plate is heated to temperatures exceeding 80 °C in the central zone, the PEI‑coated steel sheet begins to bulge.
¶ 🔎 Possible Causes

- Improper Installation → Go to Scenario 1

- Improper Usage or Temperature Settings → Go to Scenario 2

¶ ✅ Solution
¶ Scenario 1: Improper Installation
¶ 1. Remove the PEI steel sheet.
¶ 2. Inspect the soft magnetic sticker.
- The soft magnetic sticker must be applied smoothly onto the heated bed. Wrinkles and bumps on the surface can lead to visible bulges when heated.
- If necessary, replace the magnetic sticker with a new one and reinstall it to ensure a flat surface.
¶ 3. Reinstall the PEI sheet.
- Make sure to align the PEI sheet with the holders.

¶ Scenario 2: Improper Usage or Temperature Settings
Ensure all heated bed temperature settings and usage follow the official Snapmaker recommendations for the Artisan PEI sheet. For more details, please refer to How to Use the PEI Sheet.
¶ Scenario 3: Excessive Temperature Differential
Artisan features a zoned heating design. When Bed Heating Area is set to Whole Bed, the inner zone can reach up to 110 °C, while the outer zone can reach up to 80 °C. When Inner Zone is selected, only the inner zone is heated (up to 110 °C), while the outer zone remains at room temperature. The significant temperature difference in this case is likely to trigger bulging effect.
¶ 1. Use temporary firmware.
- Download the temporary firmware to limit the temperature difference between the inner and outer zones of the heated bed.
- When the set temperatures is below 80°C, both inner and outer zones heat simultaneously.
- When the set temperatures is above 80°C, the outer zone temperature is limited to 80°C.
This helps prevent large temperature differentials across the bed surface that contribute to bulging and excessive expansion.
¶ 2. Peform calibration.
- On the home screen, tap
Calibration. - Perform
Heated Bed Leveling>Z Offset Calibration>XY Offset Calibrationrespectively.
