When there are cloggings inside the nozzle, heat break, heat sink, or other parts of the Artisan standard hot end that are hard to remove, you can disassemble the hot end and carefully clean away the cloggings.
Disassembling the hot end could be challenging for both novice and experienced users, as it requires precise and highly focused operation. Some delicate components may be damaged due to faulty procedures.
Remove the thermal insulating casing.
Unplug the wires.
Loosen the two set screws on the heat block with the H1.5 screwdriver.
Pull out the heating rod and the thermistor sensor from the heat block.
Loosen the set screw on the heat sink with the H1.5 screwdriver, and pull out the heat break.
Clamp the heat block with the 8" wrench and heat the nozzle with a lighter to melt any filament inside the nozzle. Otherwise, the nozzle might be damaged when unscrewed in the next step.
Clamp the heat block with the 8" wrench and detach the nozzle by unscrewing it counterclockwise with the 4" wrench.
Clamp the heat block with the 8" wrench and detach the heat break by unscrewing it counterclockwise with the 4" wrench.
Loosen the set screw as illustrated with the H1.5 screwdriver.
Clamp the heat block with the 8" wrench and detach the upper throat tube by unscrewing it counterclockwise with the 4" wrench.
