¶ Problem Description
- The machine makes a strange noise when it is powered on and operating.
- The machine makes a strange noise when the power is off and the linear module slider is being pushed.
¶ Possible Cause
Case1
Abnormal friction occurred between the steel strip and the EVA foam strip placed inside the linear module slider.
Case2
Some parts inside the linear module come loose.
¶ Solution
¶ Before You Start
Make sure to shut down the machine.
¶ Tools Required
- Clean cloth
- Tweezers
- Screw driver
- Silicone lubricant or dashboard wax
If you don't have any lubricant available, we recommend the WD-40 or the B'laster silicone lubricant on Amazon.
¶ Procedures
Case1 Abnormal friction occurred between the steel strip and the EVA foam strip placed inside the linear module slider.

Detach the slider with tweezers.

Remove the EVA foam strip from inside the slider and re-attach the slider.

Manually move the slider to check for any abnormal sound. There may be two possible scenarios:
Please be careful not to touch the steel strip during movement to avoid being scratched by the steel strip.
If there's no more unusual sound, take these steps to address the previous sound issue:
1. Clean away any dust from the EVA foam strip.
2. Put the EVA foam strip back inside the slider.
3. Apply an appropriate amount of silicone lubricant or dashboard wax on the steel strip.
4. Manually move the slider three or five times. The abnormal sound should be reduced or eliminated.
The EVA foam strip is used to prevent dust from floating below the steel strip and soiling the lead screw beneath it. However, since 3D printing and laser machining typically do not produce much dust, you can directly remove the EVA foam strip to resolve the unusual sound issue. Nevertheless, it is always recommended to follow the cleaning method above.
If the unusual sound persists, it might be caused by the looseness of certain parts inside the linear module.
Case2 Some parts inside the linear module come loose.
1.Use an H2.0 screwdriver to remove the four bolts on both sides of the linear module.Then remove the steel strip.
Please be careful when removing the steel strip to avoid being scratched by the steel strip.
2.Push the linear module pulley, pay attention to whether the belt is worn, whether the synchronous wheel is loose, and determine the source of abnormal noise.
