This guide provides a detailed, step-by-step process for replacing the main control board on the Dual Extruder of the Snapmaker 2.0 and Artisan models.
When removing or reinstalling the Dual Extruder, please make sure the machine is powered off. To avoid any issues, be careful not to plug or unplug anything while the machine is on or accidentally connect things the wrong way.
Using an H1.5 screwdriver, carefully remove the four screws securing the old top cover.
Utilize an H2.0 screwdriver to take out the four screws located at the back of the dual extruder.
Gently push the internal module out of the outer casing to gain access for further steps.
With the H2.0 screwdriver, detach the four screws holding the top cover to the main control board, and then remove the top cover from the module.
Note that one of the screws is positioned in the center:
Before removing the cables, please take a photo to remember the position of each cable connection. You will need this reference when reconnecting to the new main control board.
To prevent the wires from coming loose, a white adhesive was applied at the connections during manufacturing. When disconnecting the wires, please use a tool (like tweezers) to remove the adhesive before pulling the wires out. Remember, do not use excessive force to pull them out, as this could cause the ports on the main control board to come off.
The two images below show the purpose of each cable and the location of the connectors, which can be used as a reference when connecting the cables to the main control board.
Please note that since the Artisan Dual Extruder uses a photoelectric switch for leveling, there’s no need to connect anything to the probe sensor port if your module is the Artisan Dual Extruder.
Following the disassembly steps, carefully reinstall each module and screw to complete the process.
