After all the preparations (pre-checks, calibrations, and materials), you've got last three questions to answer before starting a laser process:
- How you want the design to be engraved or cut (How)
- Where you want the pattern engraved or cut on the prepared material (Where)
- How to focus the laser (or say, adjust the laser height) to ensure the best machining result (Quality)
Here are two recommended workflows for you to work out the questions one by one:
- Camera Capture (Where) -> Generating the G-code File (How) -> Automatic Thinkness Measurement/Input Material Thickness (Quality)
- Generating the G-code File (How) -> Adjusting Laser Height (Quality) -> Setting Work Origin (Where)
In the first workflow, you can complete all the steps quickly and solely on Luban. If there happens to be a Wi-Fi network nearby, this is undoubtfully a better path to take due to its convenience and ease of use, especially for novices at laser machining.
In the second workflow, you need to transfer the G-code file generated on Luban to the machine and deal with the Quality and Where questions on the Touchscreen. A USB flash drive will do in this workflow, yet you have to set the work origin yourself, which might entail some patience and experience. However, this workflow enables you to adjust the laser height in more ways and supports two modes to set the work origin, which will come in handy when you want to set these parameters in a more self-defined way.
- Connect Luban with your machine via Wi-Fi.
- Use Camera Capture to add a background for you to position the design.
- Import a design file into Luban, then configure and generate the G-code file.
- Click Export > Load G-code to Workspace.
- In the pop-up Preview window, click Start Job > Start on Luban.
- In the pop-up Select Mode window, select Automatic Thickness Measurement > Start to auto-focus the laser (auto-adjust the laser height) and start machining. If you know the exact thickness of the material, you can select Input Material Thickness and enter the value, and the machine will also do auto-focusing.
- Import a design file into Luban, then configure and generate the G-code file.
- Transfer the G-code file to your machine.
- On the Touchscreen, find and tap the transferred file > Next.
- Tap the top right corner to choose a mode, follow the on-screen instructions to adjust the laser height, and tap Next.
- Tap the top right corner to choose a mode, follow the on-screen instructions to set the work origin, and tap Start Job.
