Automatic Thickness Measurement, as the name indicates, can automatically measure the thickness of the material fixed on the work platform. With the known thickness, the machine will then automatically adjust the Z height of the Laser module (otherwise called the laser height) to best focus the laser beam on the material surface to achieve fine engraving or cutting results.
Automatic Thickness Measurement works on the basis of the triangulation technique. During the measuring process, the red laser emitter of the laser module projects a red dot on the material surface, and then the built-in camera captures the red dot image to calculate the material thickness.
To avoid thickness measurement failure, ensure that the material meets the following requirements:
- The material thickness is less than or equal to 50 mm;
- The material texture is not transparent.
- The material surface is not glossy or specular.
- The material color is not red or black.
During the Automatic Thickness Measurement, the LED strips of the Enclosure will be turned off (if on before) temporarily to ensure accurate measurement. So don't be
panickedsurprised when the light is suddenly gone...
When the measurement turns out to be inaccurate, recalibrate Thickness Measurement Calibration and Platform Height Calibration.
Automatic Thickness Measurement on Luban must be used in combination with Camera Capture. For the complete workflow, see Workflow #1 on this page.
