¶ Problem Description
No matter which toolhead is connected to the machine, the Touchscreen displays as in the picture below. The machine is not recognizing any of them.
¶ Possible Causes
- The Toolhead Cable is damaged.
- The Controller is malfunctioning.
- One or more malfunctioning modules are affecting the Controller Network Area (CAN) communication.
¶ Solutions
¶ 1. Replace the toolhead cable
Replace the current Toolhead cable with one of the interchangeable cables (see picture below). See if this solves the problem. If not, go to step 2.
¶ 2. Disconnecting certain cables from the Controller
¶ 2.1 Power off and disconnect cables
- Turn off the machine and unplug all cables except the Power Module and Touchscreen from the Controller.
¶ 2.2 Test toolhead detection
- Connect one of the three toolheads to the machine and turn it on.
- Check if the machine detects the toolhead and operates properly.
- If not detected, power off the machine and try a different toolhead. Repeat until all three toolheads are tested.
Note: If none of the toolheads are detected, the toolhead port on the Controller may be damaged.
¶ 2.3 Verify the toolhead port using the Addon-1 port
In the event of a potential fault with the toolhead port on the controller, you can temporarily use the addon1 port as a substitute for the toolhead port by using the appropriate command.
Here're the steps:

Connect the machine to Luban via the serial port using a USB cable.

Enter the following commands separately to remap the Toolhead port to the Addon-1 port:
M1029 E2 M500 -
After saving the settings, turn off the machine, plug the toolhead cable into the Addon-1 port, and repeat step 2.2 to verify toolhead detection.
¶ 2.4 Check for Linear Module Issues
- If the toolhead is detected after disconnecting all cables except the Power Module and Touchscreen from the Controller, the issue may lie with the Linear Modules.
